Arctic Monkeys: A Yorkshireman in New York
The title is suggesting to the reader that one of the Arctic Monkeys have gone to New York. The reader knows that this article is not about the whole band, but instead just one member. The sub-heading lets the reader know what they are going to be reading about. It gives the reader an insight to the things that they will be reading about and it helps the reader decide whether they will be interested in this article or not. The article is set out in column, to me this makes me feel like there is less to read, where as if it was just long lines of words then it would make me less interested in reading it. There are a total of eight images in this article. This article is spread over 3 pages which can suggest that it is very detailed and is aimed at the fans of the Arctic Monkeys. There are little sections where there are little interviews with the other members. This article mentions why the Arctic Monkeys are not all together and therefore they are needed to do the other interviews over e-mail. The font in this article is a size of 9. This helps the writer include more information with a limited amount of room. In the interviews with the other members of the band the font is different but the font size is the same. This is because it is a separate section of the main featured article. Also the questions in these interviews are bolder so they questions and answers can be separated. An image is provided with every interview of the individual that is being interviewed. These images are all took from the same type of camera and this is to maintain some type of design, but it only used for the interviews. There are two quotations that are written in bold and are both said by Alex Turner. This tells the reader that Alex Turner is the main one that is being interviewed. Having quotations in bold and separate from the text can catch the reader’s attention as they may read the quotation first and if it is interesting to the reader then they will read on. The image of the band that is placed on the second page is a good way for a reader to notice which one is the main singer or main person of the band and in this image it is Alex Turner as he is at the front of the image, whereas Matt Helders is at the back of this image. The language is mainly formal but at time there are some informal terms throughout this article which shows me that it is aimed at an age range of 18-30.
