Q2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

I have chosen Ellie Goulding to compare to my model as there are a many similarities and differences. They are both in the same position for the image and are looking at the camera, but my model it slightly at an angle rather than straight forward. I have stereotyped my model to connote my audience by the way they may look, what their style may be and what age my audience will be. I would say that by using this image especially for my front cover supports that my magazine is more of a female based magazine. The shot of Ellie Goulding is a close up which is the same as my own image, but there is more in my image and you can see my models arm and more of her shoulders. In both images you cannot notice what either of the models is wearing, but by the model itself and the age of both of them you can assume that they will be wearing modern clothes that are also up to date with the current trend. Both models have similar hair in terms of length and colour. But you cannot notice this as much if you do not know the colour of my models hair as by the effects that I have used you cannot notice her blonde hair. Ellie Goulding and my model have the same facial expression. They do not have the expression on their faces that looks happy, sad or angry. They have quite plain, basic expression that does not give much emotion away. By using the image I have I am representing the social group, the demographic profile and the psychographic profile I am aiming to represent. The demographic profile that I am aiming for ages between 18-30, they will most likely be single and be classed as middle class or lower middle class. The psychographic profile of my audience is succeeders and aspires. They either have the luxury lifestyle or they do things in their day to day lives to make it look like they have the luxury lifestyle. My magazine has a pro-consumerist stance as it advertises fashion. IPC media divide women in to two categories, mass market women and upmarket women. My magazine would attract more of the upmarket women as my magazine relates to other magazines like Marie Claire and In Style magazine.
