Q4: Who would be the audience for your media product?
This image on the left represents my target audience in terms of their social status, demographic profile, and psychographic profile and lifestyle choices. My target audience is described as psychographics more than demographics. The magazine targets a specific sub-culture rather than an age or class due to the fact it has a target audience. However my audience does have an age range of 18-30 and are classed as middle and lower class in society. This image can show my targeted audience what the genre of my magazine is. It shows that it is an indie, rock genre. The attitude of the model is sophisticated and casually dressed. The psychographic profile of my audience would be mainly aspirers and succeeders. They are people that have the luxury lifestyle or want that luxury lifestyle and do things in their everyday life to make their life look like a luxury lifestyle. A small part of my targeted audience could
be individuals. Individuals are people that are difficult to classify and are often young. My targeted audience would enjoy hobbies like going to festivals and gigs, socialising at house parties and pubs. Other interest would be things like photography and art. Most of my audience would be up to date with fashion, the latest gadgets and have a Facebook account. Most of my audience I think would still be in education e.g. university. My audience will listen to famous artists like Kings of Leon, Paramore, Jamie T and Ellie Goulding. My audience would watch programmes like The Inbetweeners, Skins and watch comedians either on TV or they would go to their concerts. Their shopping habits in terms of clothing will most likely be named brands or well-known shops e.g. Topshop, Jack Wills, Superdry, Abercrombie & Fitch and H&M. In terms of DVD’s and CD’s the most popular shop that they would go to would be HMV. The type advertising that my magazine would have would be of products that could be advertised in my magazine would be clothing websites/stores and new gadgets e.g. the iPhone 4, a laptop or an iPad. By advertising technology it relates more to my audience as the age range is 18-30, which in this society this age range will be up to date with all of the new technology.
My audience would have disposable income due to the fact that they would not have any bills to pay e.g. mortgages, or have to support a family. The money that they are left with each week will go to them and this helps them to be able to afford top branded clothes and brand new technology. By advertising these and using the layout, images and colour themes I have would help attract my audience and would be the reasons for them purchasing it.
